Sony Music bosses have hit back at Kesha after allegations were made during their ongoing legal battle with producer Dr. Luke that her career is being threatened with being over for good.

Locked in a court dispute with both parties since 2014, Kesha accused Dr. Luke of a string of offences including sexual assault and emotional abuse, before adding Sony Music chiefs to her lawsuit and claiming they knew about Dr. Luke's alleged behaviour.

Now she says that because of her ties to the record label, she "can't work with music producers, publishers, or record labels to release new music."

Seeking to be released from her contract with the defendants, Kesha has asked Sony officials for permission to press on with her music career by recording new material, saying that this hiatus is putting her career in jeopardy. Despite that, label representatives have refused.

They've now lodged a new response to the accusations, using Adele, D'Angelo and Justin Timberlake as examples of artists who have made big comebacks in the industry after taking a long time out of the public eye.

Sony lawyers say that the company has invested way too much in Kesha to just let her go, revealing they've spent over $11 million on her career to-date, so far banking her $3 million in royalties alone, according to documents on TMZ.com.

Sony Music also say Kesha has been keeping a high profile with guest appearances on television series Jane the Virgin, as well as an appearance in the movie Jem and the Holograms.

All of Kesha's accusations have been denied by both Sony bosses and Dr. Luke, with the producer also filing a countersuit against her for extortion and defamation.
