Kasabian

Kasabian have been confirmed to headline this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The rock band will close the music event - one of the largest in Europe - on Sunday June 29 on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset, England, and are determined to boost the party vibe following Dolly Parton's rumoured tea-time slot.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "Kasabian are the perfect finale for Glasto this year.

"It's a real coup that Dolly Parton is expected to be on the bill too, but her set won't provide the desired fireworks to truly rock the final night.

"That's where Kasabian come in."

The group - consisting of Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Tim Carter - have always dreamed of playing at the high-profile festival but were left fuming after Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis failed to book them last year.

Arcade Fire have also been confirmed as headliners and will take to the Pyramid stage on Friday 27 June , while rumoured acts include; Elbow, Depeche Mode, Foo Fighters and Daft Punk.

Meanwhile, Kasabian will be working on their new album in coming months.

The insider added: "Kasabian's new album is shaping up to be well dancey.

"It's a return to the more electronically inclined early material.

"But the lead single is virtually heavy metal."

Glastonbury Festival kicks off on June 25, 2014, and finished on June 29, 2014.
