Kanye West will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month.
The 36-year-old rapper will make his seventh onstage appearance at the annual awards when he sings 'Black Skinhead' at the ceremony on August 25, which will air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Lady Gaga has previously been confirmed as a performer and will debut her new single, making one of her first appearances since having hip surgery in February.
The 27-year-old singer, who will release her new album 'ARTPOP' on November 11, sang the national anthem at New York's Gay Pride in June but has been avoiding the public eye since calling off her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour to undergo surgery for a labral tear on her right hip earlier this year, which left her temporarily wheelchair-bound.
The blonde singer recently revealed that her new album will visit the pain of her past and dramatically described the moment she handed the first single over to her record label.
In a post on her new website, LittleMonsters.com, she wrote: "ARTPOP as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. its a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. but all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. im just ready to fight. start the music. (Sic)"
Other performers will be announced at a later date but Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations, as they are both up for six awards.
