Jon Bon Jovi won't get back on stage until he "achieves excellence" as he attempts to get his voice back following surgery.
The Bon Jovi frontman has been undergoing regular therapy sessions to help him sing again following an operation on his vocal cords in 2022 and he's admitted he won't head back out on the road until he's happy with his voice again.
He told Variety: "It’s a range of emotions on a daily basis. Yesterday was unbelievable. And today was less than perfection. It’s frustrating. I know that none of us can achieve perfection, but I have to achieve excellence in order for me to do it on that level again, or I won’t."
However, Bon Jovi is adamant he's not striving to regain the voice he had when he was younger.
He added: "I don’t want to pretend to be something I was … I don’t try to be that boy from 29 years ago, but I want to be the very best version of the 2024 version of me."
It comes after the singer admitted he is ready to quit touring for good if he is unable to get his voice back in shape.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: "It’s the parallel storyline, right? This is the first time I’m saying this. If the singing is not great, if I can’t be the guy I once was … then I’m done. And I’m good with that.
"There is a big difference between being in a studio and going out on the road. We have just recorded a new album. I sing in vocal therapy every day. But I want to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week - and I know how good I can be, so if I can’t be that guy … put it this way, I don’t ever need to be the fat Elvis."
