Johnny Borrell thinks computers are ruining the "art" of a rock album.

The 36-year-old singer believes record company executives see how much cheaper it is to use technology and prefer to do that rather than hire studios for lengthy sessions as they can't tell a difference in sound.
He said: "I think that the art of recording a band in a studio, with the whole band playing at once - a true likeness of the band's sound captured by microphones is unfortunately in danger.
"The labels say, 'Oh you can make your record on a computer for 500 quid, or do it properly on a desk, all playing live for £5,000?' As far as they are concerned, they can't tell the difference, so they just say.. 'Kids make records on the computer.'
"And I think that kind of works for hip-hop and electronic music, but for a live group, it's just terrible."
The Johnny Borrell & Zazou frontman thinks the only way to bring indie music back to the forefront is with "great" live performances.
Asked what an indie revival would need, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Real great live great music! Made by bands that either have something to say...or who can really really really cut it live, or both preferably."
