John Legend “gave his blessing” for a new release of his hit song ‘All Of Me’.
Celina Sharma and Toby Gad have recorded a new version of All Of Me
The Grammy-award winning singer originally penned the track alongside songwriter Toby Gad for his wife Chrissy Teigen back in 2013 and it remains his biggest song to date.
And now, his collaborator has re-released the song for his new album ‘Piano Diaries – The Hits’ with TikTok sensation Celina Sharma on vocals and Toby says John approves of the new version.
He said: “John is still a friend and I see him a few times a year for parties, and I asked him for his blessing on the new version with Celina Sharma and I was happy that he gave it. Celina responded to a duet challenge on TikTok and it was so incredible that we flew her to LA and recorded together. It came together so quickly over 4 days, she is a true talent and a great performer, I’ve loved working with her.”
Toby – who has accumulated 25 billion streams after writing songs for Madonna, Beyonce and Fergie – says he had no idea ‘All Of Me’ would be as successful as it has.
He admitted: “I felt it was an honest love song. I didn’t know it was going to be one of the biggest songs in music history.”
John and Chrissy celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last year and have four children together and has previously said the song will always be special to them.
He said: "Of course, the most impactful song was the one I sang at our wedding reception: 'All of Me’. The first time I sang it for Chrissy, I whispered it into her ear and she cried."
As well as Celina performing John’s song, ‘Piano Diaries – The Hits’ also features Victoria Justice covering Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and Angelina Jordan doing Beyonce’s ‘If I Were A Boy’ and is available to stream and buy here https://ffm.to/pianodiariesthehits.
