Jimmy Page is going to release his first solo album for almost 30 years.
The Led Zeppelin legend is going in to the studio next year to record a new LP, the first he has made on his own since 1988's 'Outrrider', and he has been practising non-stop to make sure his guitar playing is at its very best.
Speaking at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards in London this week, he told BANG Showbiz: "Next year I'm just going to working on the guitar, it's time for me to go out there and do a solo album - my last solo album was 1988. I haven't really milked the situation; it's time to do another one.
"I'm known for playing many styles of guitar, and I need to re-visit all the different styles I can play."
At the moment, Jimmy thinks his new record will be an instrumental album but he could be open to working with guest singers if he feels it would improve the music.
He added: "I'm not thinking about singers, I'm thinking of an instrumental thing - I want to work with my strengths rather than my weaknesses. I want to work with myself, I want to get myself up and running and once I'm ready I'll think about whether I need someone to sing on the music."
Once his new music is finished, Jimmy intends to play a series of live shows in 2016 and he hasn't ruled out appearing at Glastonbury.
The guitar legend - who last performed on stage in 2007 when Led Zeppelin reunited for a one-off concert - said: "I want to be playing live again, but that won't be until next year, I've planned all this a while ago. I want to start in the UK, I've got ideas but I want to wait to see what happens. I'd like to do Glastonbury I could do a sort of karaoke night with Led Zeppelin songs."
