Spandau Ballet's saxophonist Steve Norman has revealed that Jason Orange has plans to go back to education following his leaving Take That.

The musician knew Jason had intentions to quit the band before the departure was announced last week, and says that close friend Mark Owen let slip that Jason will be studying now he's given up his pop life.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Steve revealed: "I'm good friends with Mark and I know Jason. I think he has always just wanted to do other things as well. He wanted to study; he just wanted to do things off the stage."

Steve was talking at the European premiere of Spandau Ballet's documentary film 'Soul Boys of the Western World', and was joined by bandmates Tony Hadley, Gary and Martin Kemp.

The film documents the group's rise to success and implosion into 80s pop culture.

Tony admitted it was tough to watch the movie as past emotions were reignited.

He said: "I think the hardest bit is seeing the slow disintegration of the band; there are moments where I knew that was the moment when it all started to go wrong."

John added: "We knew what the story was; we knew there were going to be difficult moments. You can't have a decent film without some tragedy, so it's in this film."

The group split back in 1989 but put their differences aside for a new world tour in 2009. They're now recording their first new studio album in two and a half decades.
