James Bourne took five years to get over Busted splitting up.
The 33-year-old singer admits he felt like he "didn't have a life" when the group went their separate ways in 2005 so Charlie Simpson could pursue a career with his rock band Fightstar and it took him a long time to come to terms with the fact the 'Year 3000' hitmakers wouldn't be making a new album.
He said: "There's an adjustment thing that goes on and for me it was quite a long time. Your life is on a certain track and the track ends, and it feels like you don't have a life for a little bit, because the life you did have is over.
"So I spent a few months in my apartment just playing video games and not really seeing anybody. It probably took about five years actually. I spent a good few years doing other things, but there was still a part of me that thought, 'Hopefully we can do another album'. And it took about five years for me to give up on that and make peace with the fact that it was never going to happen."
Busted thrilled their fans when they reformed in November 2015, two years after James and Matt Willis had joined McFly to form supergroup McBusted.
And Charlie insists he was never upset at not being involved with McBusted as he was busy with his solo project and was already making plans with his pals for the Busted reunion.
He told heat magazine: "It was fine. I think that was a completely separate thing and we were already in conversation at that point about doing Busted again anyway, and I was about to release a solo record, so there was never any talk of me doing McBusted. I think the focus was really on the end game, which was to get to this point."
