The One Direction star's close pal, BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw, has revealed the 'History' hitmaker jetted out to the Caribbean island to lay down the songs for his record and that he has a running joke with the 23-year-old heartthrob that he won't like his new music, which he hopes is "awful reggae".

Nick, 32, told GQ magazine: "He's [Harry] worried I won't like his new solo record.

"He recorded it in Jamaica so I'm praying it's some awful white man reggae."

It comes after Ed Sheeran revealed Harry turned down one of the songs he wrote for his record because he wanted to head in a different direction.

The 'Shape of You' singer recently said: "He came round like two years ago and we jammed out a song. I think he's gone in a totally different direction now.

"It's really good. Anything he puts out is going to be massive, let's be honest. But I think it's very good musically as well."

And Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid said that Harry's solo music will "surprise" everyone.

The 40-year-old rocker and his band mate Gary Lightbody have both worked with Harry and they are convinced when he comes back with new tunes it will be very different from the tracks he recorded with the boy band.

He previously told BANG Showbiz: "Gary and I have both written with Harry. Gary wrote on the second to last One Direction album 'Four'. We have worked with Harry he is a really great guy. I think he will surprise people. I don't know much about what he's going to do or his plans but he's a really lovely guy."

As for when to expect Harry's LP, Sony Music boss Rob Stringer said last month that the record is "close" to being released.

He said: "We're close and we're very excited. We have a record we're incredibly excited about and it's not far away from being ready."
