George Shelley says he left Union J to pursue a career in broadcasting and acting.
The 22-year-old singer has broken his silence after it was announced that his bandmates Josh Cuthbert, J.J. Hamblett and Jaymi Hemsley dropped him from the group due to his lack of commitment, but he says he still wishes them all the best as they move forward with the band.
Taking to his Twitter account on Friday (04.03.16), he said: "The reality is that I have decided to focus on broadcasting and acting career and am excited for what the future holds. I will also still be writing and performing music.
"Despite the boys decision to announce the future of the band in this way, I still wish them the very best. To everyone who has supported me so far, and most importantly to the fans, I love you to the moon and back. (sic)"
The hunky star also reiterated that the four of them "mutually" decided they were to continue as a three-piece, without him, and that they were due to send out an official statement today (04.03.16) explaining his departure.
He added: "The decision for Union J to continue without me was entirely mutual me and the boys, and an official press release detailing the facts was due to be released this morning! I have had an incredible journey with the band, and will always be grateful for the experience."
