Foo Fighters chose Idles as their support act after Joe Talbot and co made a puzzle with "Pick Idles" on it.
Frontman Joe has revealed the unique way they successfully won over Dave Grohl's band and got to open for them at London's The O2 arena in 2017.
Appearing on SPIN’s 'Lipp Service' podcast, he said: “They had a shortlist of five to ten bands, I think.
“And apparently… they pick the bands themselves; they had the shortlist. We found out, and we thought to get ahead of the bunch, we’d make a puzzle – like a jigsaw puzzle – with a photo of our bassist on it. In his pants. It just said: ‘Pick Idles’.
“I just built the box and wrote, ‘If you build it they will come’ on it. And they did.”
Idles have just scored their second UK number one album with 'Tangk'.
Meanwhile, the singer just followed in Grohl's footsteps by reading a story on CBeebies’ 'Bedtime Stories'.
The 33-year-old rocker was thrilled to have landed the gig as he loves reading to his own child.
He said in a statement: “It’s an honour to announce that I am reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
“I can NOT express how much I love reading to my kid so this was a welcome twist in an already beautiful career. All love.”
The 'POP POP POP' songwriter read the tome ‘Under the Love Umbrella’ by Davina Bell.
Joe recently admitted that becoming a dad made him more "delicate" and that is apparent on their latest LP.
In a recent interview with NME, he explained: “‘Delicate’ is the word. Since becoming a father, I’ve addressed that in my art. I was a very impatient man; even after sobriety. I was nasty back in the day when I wanted to be, and I hurt a lot of people. I wanted to stop, and that takes time and forgiveness. I found patience, but in the most beautiful way..."
He added: “I’ve learned from being a dad that to go through things with grace, be delicate and to celebrate the small beautiful things that you can overlook so easily if you’re impatient with the world, you miss out on a lot of tiny details that will make your day. It’s got to come out in my art, because that’s how I am.”
