Sir Elton John has sparked rumours he's gearing up to retire from the music industry as he approaches his 70th birthday, after comments he made on Good Morning Britain yesterday (September 19).
Speaking on the ITV show, John said: "I love playing. My records don't sell any more because people have enough Elton John records in their collection. I love making them but it's someone else's turn now."
Asked if he was inspired by the younger generation, he added: "No, but I listen to their records. It's a very diverse bill and that is what Apple Festival is about and that is what it should be about. Diversity.
"They are all really good artists and great songwriters, proper artists and not top 10 c**p artists. When I hear new music - and there is a lot of it around - it keeps me young and on my toes."
The iconic singer headlined the Apple Music Festival in London over the weekend, which will play host to stars including Britney Spears, The 1975 and Michael Buble as the month goes on.
Though he may be hanging up his boots when it comes to new material, John is still going to remain a part of the spotlight.
For his upcoming birthday, he'll be throwing a party for himself and hosting a charitable event in Los Angeles, raising money for The Elton John AIDs Foundation.
