Ellie Goulding and Taylor Swift have a strong understanding of one another.
The two singers have bonded over their soul-sharing lyrics about the opposite sex, and the 'Burn' hitmaker believes her friend understands even her most "cryptic" messages.
She said: "Me and Taylor are similar in that we write about relationships. We text and sometimes I only have to say one thing, and even if it's cryptic she gets it.
"She's an inspiration to me because she reinstated how honest you can be about a boy in your music. I thought maybe I should stop being so explicit at one point, then I slapped myself out of that. I'm always going to write about people."
The 26-year-old star also gets on well with Rita Ora and model Cara Delevingne and insists they bring her fun and happiness.
Speaking in Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine, she said: "Rita, I adore. She's got a really good outlook on life - she's really positive, hard-working and funny. Cara and I have so much fun, we relate to each other."
The blonde beauty values her friendship, but admits the most important thing in her life at the moment is exercise.
She explained: "I've always worked out and I love running, that's the most important thing in my life. I think it's a survival instinct thing, if I've got nothing else, I've got my fitness and health."
