The 'On My Mind' singer readily admits she had pre-show butterflies before her duet with the R&B star, for which they performed a mash-up of their songs 'Love Me Like You Do' and 'Rise Up', at the prestigious awards bash in Los Angeles.

But Ellie knew she owed it to Andra to get herself together.

Speaking to News.com.au, she said: "I was a bit nervous, but I was performing with Andra. When you're performing with someone else you owe it to them to not be too nervous. I just shook it out of me. I wasn't on the set for that long but it was a fun thing to do."

Ellie has also revealed her top tip for keeping her voice in peak condition during the busy awards season and whilst on tour - drink green tea and get lots of vocal rest.

The 29-year-old singer - who is dating McFly bassist Dougie Poynter - shared: "I just drink tea, rest my voice when I can, try not to do interviews before shows. I still get made to do them but I try and keep talking to a minimum."
