Early Monday (January 18), Linda Perry took to Twitter to say that Diane Warren may have given Lady Gaga writing credit on the song 'Til It Happens to You' to gain exposure for the track.

She further claimed: "I have Diane's original demo with her singing. The only line that has been changed 'Till you're at the end, the end of your rope' originally was 'TIL YOU GOT A HOLE RIPPED IN YOUR SOUL.' So I guess technically one line was changed so sure Gaga possibly 'rewrote' a line but chances are Diane still took part in rewriting that line which means Gaga contributed a few words. Is that writing? Not in my book."

Now though Warren has responded, shutting down those claims and stating that the song - which appears on documentary The Hunting Ground - was "the result of a special collaboration" between her and Gaga.

Since Warren's statements, Perry has returned to her Twitter account to apologise for commenting at all in the first place, and saying she wishes "the focus to remain on the great importance of the song".

Documentary movie The Hunting Ground focuses on the topic of sexual assault on college campuses, with the track 'Til It Happens To You' now nominated at the Academy Awards for Best Original Song.

Warren has never won an Oscar in the category before despite this being her eighth nomination.
