BRITs chairman Max Lousada has confirmed that the "extraordinary life and work" of David Bowie will be honoured at this year's BRIT Awards, taking place on February 24 at London's O2 Arena.
This follows Bowie becoming the oldest recipient of a BRIT Award after he picked up the gong for Best British Male at the 2014 event.
Kate Moss accepting the award on his behalf wearing his Ziggy Stardust outfit, 18 years after the singer won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the BRITs and 30 years since he was last named Best British Male.
It comes alongside the news that a concert originally organised as a tribute show in New York's Carnegie Hall in March will now become a memorial gig. Artists including Cyndi Lauper will take to the stage at the event.
Bowie died on Sunday January 10 after an 18 month battle with cancer, and leaves behind his wife Iman and two children.
Iman's close friend Bethann Hardison told People magazine: "We're fine. We're holding up. It comes in waves, you know. He's a great loss - not just a loss as an artist, but as a human."
David's 25th and last studio album 'Blackstar' currently sits at number one on the worldwide iTunes album chart.
