The 47-year-old star is apparently set to become a solo artist, even though the iconic band have insisted they are simply on a hiatus.

An insider shared: "The band is billing it as a 'break,' but it's totally Dave going solo, and Taylor is p***ed about it."

It's reported that Dave's performance at the Oscars on Sunday night (29.02.16) marked his first foray into the industry as a solo artist.

However, another source close to the situation denied the rumour, saying reports of bad blood over a split are "completely untrue", according to the New York Post's Page Six column.

Dave performed 'Blackbird' for the In Memoriam tribute at the 2016 Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

As Grohl played and sang, a video tribute played in the background honouring the Academy members who had passed away in the last year, including the likes of Sir Christopher Lee, David Bowie - who enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in films such as 'Labyrinth' and 'The Hunger' - and 'Harry Potter' star Alan Rickman.
