Daft Punk have this week reached the top of the US Billboard singles chart for the first time, with their Weeknd collaboration ‘Starboy’ reaching the top of the Hot 100, replacing former chart-topper ‘Black Beatles’ by Rae Sremmurd.
This is Daft Punk’s second time at cracking the US Top 40 singles, following their success with 2013 Pharrell Williams collaboration ‘Get Lucky’. Unfortunately at the time, the duo only peaked at Number Two with that single.
Rumours meanwhile continue to do the rounds that Daft Punk will be playing Glastonbury in 2017, whilst it was also suggested a tour is on the card following the appearance of a mysterious website called Alive 2017.
Speaking to NME earlier in the year however, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis denied the pair would appear.
She said: “There’s no more announcements now for a while, but I will tell you the other two that have been rumoured aren’t happening. There was a news story that said Daft Punk and Stone Roses. That’s not true. I don’t know where that came from.”
