Clean Bandit have admitted they were shocked by former bandmate Neil Amin-Smith's exit from the group, in a new interview with Digital Spy.
The trio - made up of Jack and Luke Patterson alongside Grace Chatto - were performing at Kiss FM's Haunted House 2016 this week and said: "It was a big surprise but the project is ever-changing. We've had so many people involved, so many violinists as well as Neil.
"In a way, it's always expected that things are going to change. We see ourselves as a collective. It's really sad as Neil has been there from the beginning, but it's really exciting because we have two new violinists with us today.
"It's exciting because there are two of them so there's a different sound; a richer sound."
The group also discussed their potential collaborative future releases with Sir Elton John, teasing: "We've been making music with Elton John which has been really incredible, and Zara Larsson.
"Our album should be out early next year hopefully. There will be lots of exciting collaborations, and cool beats. Violins, cellos and drums."
The group also revealed at the event that Neil informed the rest of them that he was leaving Clean Bandit via email.
