Charli XCX was inspired by Britney Spears.
The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker - who recently announced the release of her second studio album 'Sucker' to be released in October this year - has admitted listening to the pop princess' track 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' as a youngster encouraged her to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter.
She told The Mirror newspaper: "My inspiration was Britney. I remember hearing Hit Me Baby One More Time and it blew my mind."
Charli , 22, who co-wrote the number 1 hit 'Fancy' with Iggy Azalea and 'I Love It' with Icona Pop, has remained a huge fan of cheesy classics and still dances around to the Spice Girls.
She said: "I think all guilty pleasures are cool and I love dancing around. I love the Spice Girls too."
However, the Scottish-born singer recently admitted she does find the 'Icona Pop' hit annoying and is getting sick of artists asking her to replicate the track for them.
She explained: "I Love It' is one of the most annoying songs in the world but it's kind of cool and it's the same with '90s fashion which I'm obsessed with - it's so wrong it's right. So I just like that kind of style I guess.
"I just felt like I was being asked to replicate 'I Love It' over and over again for myself and for other people, and I was just a bit like... y'know I gave that song away for a reason."
