The seven-time Grammy Award winner will release her fifth studio record 'Storyteller' on October 23, preceded by her brand new single 'Smoke Break', which she says is about escapism.

She explained: "It's basically an anthem for every hard-working person. We all wear many hats and are spread thin, so we can all relate to being tired and needing a break. This song is about having that moment to be able to escape from whatever it is that's stressing you out and have some time for yourself."

The single - produced by Jay Joyce - was penned by the 32-year-old star along with Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano, who she previously worked with to create her smash hit 'Little Toy Guns'.

The announcement comes just months after Carrie revealed she had written a song about her five-month-old son Isaiah, who she had with her ice hockey player husband Mike Fisher.

Asked if it would feature on her LP, she teased: "I'd be very willing to put money that it will be on there."

And she also gushed about what a positive effect the little tot has on her, saying she feels like life is "better" when she sees her smiling son.

She added: "He's just this gift and such a smiley baby and so easy to be around.

"I'm a grouch in the morning and I wake up and he wakes up and he's just smiling at me. So he just makes my life better."
