Calum Scott has today (November 17) released his brilliant new single ‘You Are The Reason’, showcasing his stellar unique vocals all over again and proving exactly why he’s one of the most talked about British artists of our day. Scott co-wrote the song alongside Rookies, with Fraser T Smith working on production, following his work with artists such as Adele and Ellie Goulding.
Speaking about the track, Scott says: “’You Are The Reason’ started out as a song about something completely different than what it is now. It was originally written from a fragile place of anxiety and not knowing the cause of it, so the song started to become ‘Without A Reason’. But as we carried on writing, we realised how every relationship has difficult times but you stick with it because the love you fundamentally feel for the other person overrides everything else. I wrote this song to say thank you to those special people who make our lives better, simply because they’re in it.”
The song follows the success of most-recent single ‘Rhythm Inside’, which has amassed over 24 million streams worldwide, as well as his poignant rendition of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’, which earned him critical acclaim across the globe and over 550 million streams for that track alone.
Recently supporting Emeli Sandé on her UK stadium tour, as well as completing his first US tour earlier in the year, it’s clear that Scott is on a path to major success, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch it all happening.
With true, raw talent, he’s somebody the UK can be proud of in the industry, and someone we imagine will be entertaining us all with his beautiful voice for many years to come.
