Young Knives are giving best local bands the chance to play with them on their forthcoming Off the Beaten Track UK tour this March. This is a tour which sees the Knives go out of their way to play the provinces and market towns of the UK, to those who don't usually get bigger bands visiting their towns. Since Young Knives came from a small town themselves Ashby de la Zouch - and became known for their lethal combination of compelling melodies and thinking mans lyrics about the trials of daily provincial life, it only fits that they are going back to their roots, bringing a big band to small towns. With the unique competition, acts local to the tour hotspots can enter their own demos/songs by sending them to [email protected], more details of the competition can be found at www.myspace.com/theyoungknives from Tues 26th January. The band will listen through the entries and decide who plays alongside them. The overall winner will be invited back to play the bands next London headline show. The new Off the Beaten Track tour sees Young Knives gracing stages they have never played before. Henry, House of Lords and Oliver, the pioneers of new-wave countryside charm will head into the hills of Belfast, Crewe and Bath to name a few, playing favourites from their eccentrically British back catalogue, plus brand new songs from their eagerly awaited second album Superabundance. The endearing, Mercury-nominated trio have played numerous UK stages in the past two years - Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, V Festival, European festivals and Chinese festivals not to mention TV performances such as Later With Jools Holland. This new tour will be something of a break from the norm for a band that always likes to stray from the obvious path. A new year, a new tour, and fresh from their NME Brats dates and with their sharp new Gilbert & George look, Young Knives are once again ready with something a little bit different to give their fans in the outer regions.
You can also catch them live on Channel 4s album chart show early March.
Superabundance album is released March 10th on Transgressive Records.
