Tragic rock star Jani Lane's former bandmates in Warrant have paid tribute to the late singer, calling him a "true talent".
Lane was found dead in a Woodland Hills, California hotel room on Thursday night.
He fronted the Cherry Pie hitmakers between 1986 and 2004 and briefly reunited with the group in 2008, and his former bandmates have been left shocked by his death.
A statement from the group reads, "We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Jani's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
"Jani was a very important part of our lives for a long time. We will always be incredibly proud of the music we created together. He was a true talent and will be missed by all of us."
Slash and Nikki Sixx were among the first heavy rock icons to pay their respects to Lane, and now Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has offered his thoughts on the tragedy.
In a post online, he writes, "I'm still in shock... I was just sitting in a dressing room with him less than a month ago. Had I known, I would have spent more time with him.
"He was a good-hearted guy with a gentle soul. I know he had a tough life and many battles, but who doesn't? He seemed to be genuinely working so hard at sorting things out and getting things in order. It's a true shame."
Lane's death remains a mystery but an autopsy was scheduled to take place on Friday.
