One of the best up-and-coming British acoustic bands, The Staves, have been added to the line-up for the Eden Session on July 1, which will be headlined by Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls.
Hertfordshire-based The Staves are comprised of the three Staveley-Taylor sisters, Emily, Jessica and Camilla. They are due to release their self-titled debut album in July this year, following last December’s release of the Mexico EP. Another EP, called Motherlode, is due to be released at the end of this month.
The group have previously provided backing vocals for recent albums by both Tom Jones and Fionn Regan and are supporting Bon Iver on their upcoming North American tour.
The Staves use three-part vocal harmonies in combination with subtle acoustic arrangements to create a beautiful, bittersweet and sometimes haunting sound.
Martin Williams, Eden’s marketing director, said: "The Staves bolster an already strong line-up for July 1, which will showcase some of the best folk and acoustic acts around.
"They will play Eden just before the release of their debut album and we’re glad to be getting a preview of what will likely be one of the best acoustic albums of the year."
As well as Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, The Staves will be joining other leading lights of the acoustic scene, including indie-folk group Stornoway, the 11-piece Bellowhead, Mull Historical Society, otherwise known as singer-songwriter Colin MacIntyre and south west folk star Seth Lakeman.
All headliners for 2012 have now been announced but more support acts will be announced soon, giving the Session a one-day festival feel.
