Reformed rockers The Smashing Pumpkins are to give their first North American show of 2007 at the Virgin Festival in Toronto, Canada in September (07).The group, fronted by Billy Corgan, will co-headline the two day Toronto Island event with Bjork.Other artists confirmed for the festival include Amy Winehouse, The Killers,Interpol.The Smashing Pumpkins formed in Chicargo in 1988 and were considered an altenative rock band. They broke into the mainstream in 1993 with their second album Siamese Dream. By 2006 they had sold 18.3 million albums in the US alone. Meanwhile, My Chemical Romance and The Killers will headline a Vancouver, Canada version of the Virgin Festival in May (07).The Smashing Pumpkins have already announced plans to release a new album in July (07) and they'll perform at a string of European festivals this summer (07).
