Rotten: 'The Sex Pistols Made No Money Until 1996'....
The Sex Pistols failed to make any money at the height of their fame in the 1970s - according to the band's frontman John Lydon.Lydon, who is better known as Johnny Rotten, insists the band were living in poverty until they reunited for their global six-month Filthy Lucre Tour in 1996.He says, "I love the money. But do you know how broke the Pistols were? Until that '96 reunion tour we never got a pay-off at all. We never saw a penny" Meanwhile The Sex Pistols are facing a $100 (£50) fine after openly flouting a smoking ban at a concert in London.The punk icons were playing at London's Brixton Academy when the band lit up several cigarettes on stage, breaking the new law which came into force on 1 July (07), banning smoking in all enclosed public places.Frontman Johnny Rotten told the audience, "I can't believe you lot aren't smoking. What kind of country is this if you can't even have a smoke?".
