Guns N' Roses

Perth, Australia officials have drafted in specialist police and extra security for Guns N' Roses' December (10) gig at the Kwinana Motorplex to avoid another clash of biker gangs.

Three rival groups turned last week's (03Oct10) Harley Street Bike Drags at the venue into a horror show when they fought over territory and pride.

Families watched on as the violence escalated before extra police arrived at the Motorplex to stop the trouble.

One gang member reportedly had three fingers severed and another was shot. Several other bikers checked into local hospitals with more minor injuries.

As a result of the trouble, Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams has instructed police and promoters to get together and come up with a plan of action to make sure the Guns N' Roses show on 11 December (10) is as secure as possible.

She tells the Perth Now newspaper, "I think it would be prudent for police to maintain a presence in light of what has happened. I can only anticipate that Guns N' Roses would attract a wide range of people, but they may well be a band that also attracts a lot of bikies.

"We would certainly be asking for extra security just to ensure that, if people are attending the event for reasons other than wanting to enjoy a good band, then steps would need to be in place to ensure they are turned away from the venue.

"I will be asking our council to liaise with the event manager and the local police to seek a reassurance that an incident of this nature doesn't happen again, predominantly through upgraded security."

According to the publication, councillors are calling for specialist gang crime police and extra security to patrol the show.
