Glee star, DARREN CRISS, is set to rival co-stars, and solo artists MATTHEW MORRISON, and MARK SAILING with his own solo album which is set to be released later this year.
Criss found fame playing an openly gay student Blaine Anderson in the hit musical show, and he has now signed a deal with Sony music executives to record his debut album entitled 'Starship.'
He tells Billboard.com, "We're working on it - we're really excited and it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm so thrilled that it's something that can happen because of Glee... I hope I can do it justice and make it something that people can really enjoy."
Darren, who in the current season plays Kurt's boyfriend, originally auditioned for the role of Finn, but was turned down for Cory Monteith. However his dreams of stardom were saved when he landed the part of Blaine in which the shows creator, Ryan Murphy told US blog 'After Elton': "He had auditioned and auditioned many, many times and I personally never saw his auditions. Then when we were casting, the casting director said, 'You gave us many choices.'
As soon as Darren came on and [I saw] his audition, I was like, 'That’s the guy.'
Murphy has also expressed his plans to use Darren into the next season stating that he is a 'positive role model' in the storyline.
