Snoop Dogg Escapes Jail Term....

Rap star Snoop Dogg has escaped a prison sentence in relation to a 2006 incident over possession of an offensive weapon.The rapper - real name Calvin Broadus - was arrested after he was found to be carrying a collapsible baton in his hand luggage at John Wayne Airport in Orange County last year.Broadus pleaded guilty to one count of felony possession of a dangerous weapon in a California court on Thursday (20Sep07), and was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years probation.Donald Etra, the star's attorney, says, "We are very pleased with the outcome. Snoop's goal is to make music, not make court appearances."He wants to get on with his life. He will continue his music and his filming and performing."Broadus was also ordered to make a charitable donation of $10,000 (£5,000) to a charity called Right Trak, while Etra claims Broadus' felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor after one year if the rapper doesn't violate the law.
