Snoop Dogg Denied Entry Into Australia.... American rapper Snoop Dogg has been denied entry into Australia following his recent drug and gun convictions, because he "isn't the sort of bloke" government officials want in the country.Snoop Dogg - real name Calvin Broadus - encountered similar problems last month (Mar07) when he was refused a visa to enter the UK by the country's Foreign And Commonwealth Office. Attempts to reverse the decision proved unsuccessful and led to the cancellation of the rapper's UK tour with Sean 'Diddy' Combs. And now the Drop It Like It's Hot star will not be able to attend this weekend's (29Apr07) Mtv Australian Video Music Awards, which he was due to co-host.Speaking on a radio station in Sydney this morning (26Apr07), Australia's Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews confirmed his decision to decline Broadus entry into the country. He says, "The reality is in relation to this man, that he was given a warning the last time, he has a whole string of convictions, and, just two weeks ago I was told he was convicted on a number of charges again and sentenced to three years' imprisonment on two, and three years' imprisonment on another, with five years' probation and a suspended sentence."He has been denied entry into the United Kingdom because he was caught with others causing affray at Heathrow Airport. He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country."A spokeswoman for Andrews said the hip-hop star had already received a caution when he last visited the country in February (07), with the Department of Immigration warning him that if he was convicted of anything else, he could jeopardise future trips to Australia. She adds, "Since that time he has been convicted of drug and firearm offences, which has effectively caused the minister to be particularly reluctant to provide a visa for him."

Broadus recently (11Apr07) escaped a jail term after pleading no contest to charges of sale or transportation of marijuana and possession of a gun.

But he already has a 1990 felony conviction for possession of drugs for sale.

And last November (06) he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon after he was caught carrying a collapsible baton through airport security, while in March (06) he was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden for suspected narcotics use.
