Paul McCartney Brands Label 'boring'....
Sir Paul McCartney has launched a scathing attack on his former record label Emi - branding its executives so "boring" and sycophantic, he dreaded meeting up with them. The musician accuses the company of creating a stuffy and stifling working environment, and he felt exasperated by their seemingly slow pace of operating. The former Beatle - who was signed to Emi for 45 years until he quit the label in March (07) - says, "Everybody at Emi had become part of the furniture.I'd be a couch; Coldplay are an armchair. Robbie Williams, I dread to think what he was."I'd felt (the people at Emi) had become really very boring, y'know? And I dreaded going to see them."I could guess what they were going to say. 'Love your record, Paul.' And I'd say, 'Well what should we do with it?' "Then they'd go: 'Well, we think you ought to go to Cologne,' which is what they always say".McCartney - who has since signed a deal with Starbucks' Label, Hear Music - was also sick of being told that a period of at least six months was needed to market his music. He adds, "Couldn't some bright people do that in two days? Look boys, I'm sorry, I'm digging a new furrow".
Sir Paul released Memory Almost Full, his first album through Hear Music, in June (07).
He also opened a website, Meyesight, to showcase his musical demos, poems and artwork.
A spokesman for Emi declined to comment.
