Sigur Ros singer Jonsi Birgisson has accused U.K. TV bosses of "raping" his hit song Hoppopolla by using it repeatedly as background music on their shows.
The haunting track first appeared on the Icelandic band's 2005 album Takk... and has since been used countless times on TV soundtracks and trailers - including Sir David Attenborough's Planet Earth documentary.
And Birgisson is angry TV producers are allowed to use the song without his permission.
He tells FemaleFirst; "Hoppípolla has been raped on British TV. In some weird way, the national TV here in Britain doesn't have to ask permission to use songs if it's in the background of TV shows or whatever. So they can just take it and use it and that happened a lot with Hoppipolla."
