The always late Axl Rose

Guns N’ Roses front man Axl Rose has signed a ‘Late Clause’ for the Rock in Rio gig.  Rose agreed to sign the clause in order to play the headline slot in Brazil, as he has a reputation for being late.

The frontman is famously bad at keeping to set gig times, often arriving on stage hours after the allocated slot and causing trouble for event organisers.

The band was reportedly fined $108,000 by officials at London's O2 Arena last October after Rose's late stage appearance meant the rockers went over the venue's strict 11pm curfew.

And while negotiating the group's contract for its upcoming performance at Rock in Rio later this year, organisers insisted a clause be drawn up in a bid to prevent the rocker from turning up late, according to Blabbermouth.com. Rose kept fans waiting for two hours at the same festival in 2001.

Rock in Rio's vice president Roberta Medina tells Brazilian magazine Epoca, "(Guns N' Roses' appearance was) the hardest to arrange on the history of the festival. Bands are usually on time, but Guns is a different case. Latenesses like the one in 2001... can make the public feel uncomfortable and cause them to possibly start a riot."
