Rolling Stones rule out performing at 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony

The Rolling Stones have ruled out performing at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London after Bryan Adams warned them off.

The veteran rockers were rumoured to be among the acts lined up to launch the sporting event in July but the frontman Sir Mick Jagger has dismissed the speculation.

He's adamant that the band have not been approached by the organisers for the opening ceremony, but are not keen on the idea to perform after receiving some advice from Canadian rocker Bryan Adams.

Jagger tells the BBC: "Has anyone actually approached us? No. But Bryan Adams said, 'Whatever you do, don't do any Olympic openings,' after he did the winter Games in Canada. It was so cold, and he had to wear this bizarre suit... Although that's not going to happen here (in London) - it would just rain."

The singer also fears a repeat of the closing ceremony ar the previous O;ympics, in Beijing when Led Zeppelin hero Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis teamed up to perform Whole Lotta Love, adding: ""It wasn't a brilliant piece of theatre when they left the stadium with a London bus with Jimmy Page on it. I don't want to be on that bus when it arrives in London."
