Prince Takes Aim At Copyright Critics With New Song Online....
Prince has personally responded to accusations of alienating his fanbase after demanding unofficial websites remove his image - by posting a seven-minute song online taking aim at fans' concerns. The Purple Rain hitmaker came under fire earlier this week (begs05Nov07), after his representatives demanded three websites take down any unauthorised pictures of the star, citing copyright infringement. The fansites joined forces as Prince Fans United and hit back at the threat of legal papers, vowing to fight the case on behalf of the superstar's millions of fans worldwide. But Prince has now registered the similar web domain name of PrinceFamsUnited.com, where he's posted new track Pfunk, a reference to both the name of the fans' protest group and George Clinton's P-Funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic. The new song contains the lyrics: "The only reason you say my name / Is to get your fifteen seconds of fame / Nobody's even sure what you do / I don't care what people may say / I ain't gonna let it ruin my day."He later adds: "I love all y'all, don't you ever mess with me no more."Surprisingly, Prince fans on the affected websites love the song, citing it as a return to his 1980s peak form.
