Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty has asked his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat to be his best man at his forthcoming marriage to supermodel Kate Moss.Doherty and Barat fell out in 2004 when the Babyshambles frontman quit The Libertines to start his own band.Despite only a few meetings over the past three years, Doherty still considers Dirty Pretty Things singer Barat one of his closest friends and has asked him to be by his side when he weds Moss.Barat says, "We had a heart-to-heart the other day and at the end of the conversation, Pete asked me if I'd be up for being his best man."He told me he and Kate were desperate to marry... I was shocked but delighted. I'm really touched that after all we've been through together we could finally put it all behind us and move on."Doherty and Moss, who have been dating on and off for two years, are yet to set a wedding date, but their rocker pal Bobby Gillespie recently said it would be a summer (07) ceremony.
