PJ Harvey

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 are extremely proud to announce that the recipient of this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music award will be PJ Harvey.

Picking up the coveted award in person at the ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton on Wednesday, February 23rd, PJ Harvey will also perform live at the event.

This is one of the special awards of the night, along with the Godlike Genius award, which is chosen by NME to recognise services to music. Previous recipients of the accolade include Elbow, Arthur Lee and The Specials. This year’s Godlike Genius award will go to Dave Grohl, who will play a live set with Foo Fighters at the awards.

With a live set from My Chemical Romance also confirmed – and more very special guest appearances to be announced – the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 will gather the best new bands, returning icons and the most influential legends to celebrate the most credible music awards in the world. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
