Osbournes' Family Auction Is A Big Success....

Ozzy Osbourne and his manager/wife Sharon have raised $800,000 (£400,000) for charity after selling off a variety of their prized possessions in a Beverly Hills auction. The two-day Osbournes sale saw fans travel from across the world to be at the Los Angeles auction, which took place at the Gibson Guitar Showroom on Friday (30Nov07) and Saturday (01Dec07).According to auctioneer Darren Julien, the most popular items at the event were those which featured on the rock family's reality TV show, The Osbournes, including Ozzy's trademark wire-rim glasses, which went for $5,250 (£2,625), a coat embroidered with bats ($3,300/£1,650) and sneakers with a skull design ($2,625/£1,312).A dog bed given to Sharon by celebrity friend Sir Elton John went under the hammer for $2,375 (£1,162), while the former Black Sabbath frontman's oversized coffee mug sold for $1,625 (£812).And a pool table the veteran rocker almost refused to donate eventually went for $11,250 (£5,625).The auction was also an attraction for lovers of fine art - a sculpture by French artist Edouard Drouot raised $10,500 (£5,250) and a Gabriel Joseph Marie Augustin Ferrier painting went for $5,312 (£2,656).Julien says of the auction, "We had Ozzy fans bidding against these sophisticated fine art buyers, which you don't see every day."For the most part the metalheads were outbidding the art crowd.

As Wenn went to press, it was unclear how much the Yamaha Banshee quad bike Ozzy was riding when he crashed in 2003 sold for. The crash led to an extended hospital stay as the rocker allegedly fought for his life.

All proceeds from the charity sale will be donated to The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
