Olivia Newton-John almost missed out on the biggest hit of her career when she considered not releasing Physical in 1981 - because of the song's sexual message.

The Aussie singer has revealed she worried the tune was too suggestive and risque.

She tells Spinner.com, "I had a bit of a panic session. I went, 'Oh my God! I can't put this out. It's way too radical! What are people going to think of me?'

"I said to my manager, 'You've got to pull it. It's too cheeky.' And he said, 'It's too late, it's gone to radio.' Of course, it went to number one in, like, four weeks. I've learned to live with it."

The song topped the Billboard charts for 10 weeks over Christmas.

The track recently enjoyed a rebirth thanks to Jane Lynch's hilarious duet with Newton-John on hit TV show Glee.

The two women revamped the gym session-themed music video that accompanied the song.

The singer adds, "They recreated the whole set. It's sort of following me around again."
