New Order are to reunite without bassist Peter Hook for two benefit shows in Europe this autumn, to honour ailing filmmaker Michael Shamberg.

The British group, who last took to the stage in 2006, will perform at the Ancienne Belgique in Belgium on 17 October and again in Paris, France at the La Bataclan on 18 October to raise money for Shamberg, who is currently suffering with a debilitating illness.

Pulp Fiction producer Shamberg has shot a number of the group's music videos.

Speaking to NME.com, the group says, "Michael (Shamberg) has been with us from the very start. Initially he was in charge of Factory New York (music studio), then became creative producer for all our early videos...

"Michael is very ill and needs constant medical attention. We want to help him, and these shows will contribute financial support towards his ongoing care."

Tom Chapman will take the place of former bass player Hook, who left the band in 2007, and keyboard player Gillian Gilbert will again perform with the group for the first time in 10 years.
