Natalie Maines will perform a solo set at a rally to support the West Memphis Three in Arkansas on Saturday (28Aug10).
The outspoken Dixie Chicks singer, who received death threats after publicly criticising former U.S. leader George W. Bush, will join Eddie Vedder among other stars at the Little Rock protest.
Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, aka the West Memphis Three, were convicted in 1994 of murdering three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Maines and Vedder are among the high-profile activists who believe the trio is innocent and should be released from prison.
Maines was sued for defamation in 2008 by the stepfather of one of the murdered children after alleging that some of her comments implied that he was involved in the murder.
He lost his case against the singer and was ordered to pay her legal fees.
