British pop star Jessie J will do battle with soul sensation Adele for the big prizes at the 2011 Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards after landing a combined total of nine top nominations.
The two artists, both success stories from London's famous performing arts academy The BRIT School, will go head-to-head for the crown of Best U.K. Act, while Jessie J's Who You Are and Adele's 21 are both in the running for Best Album.
They will also fight it out for Best Song, with Jessie J's Do It Like A Dude and Adele's Someone Like You earning nominations alongside Wonderman by rapper Tinie Tempah.
Jessie J earned the most nods with five, including Best Newcomer and Best Video (Do It Like A Dude), when the nominations were announced on Wednesday.
She says, "I am so honoured to be nominated. I have watched so many of the artists I look up to being nominated, winning awards and performing - its amazing to be in the company of such amazing talent. I can't wait... Thank you to the MOBO Awards and my fans for making this possible."
Meanwhile, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Bruno Mars are all nominated for Best International Act, while Adele and former Floetry star Marsha Ambrosious will face a new name in the Best U.K. R&B/Soul Act category - Amy Winehouse's young goddaughter Dionne Bromfield has also been recognised.
The 2011 MOBO Awards will take place in Glasgow, Scotland on 5 October.
