Latest pop sensation, Little Boots has revealed that she thinks her elimination from Pop Idol as a teenager has helped her music career, as it’s enabled her to grow a metaphorical thick skin.
The starlet has admitted that she previously failed to make it into the televised stages of Pop Idol when she was just 16-year-old after her rendition of Nina Simone's 'Feeling Good' wasn’t enough to propel her to the top.
She told Look: "I got to the third round of Pop Idol and was kicked out. Simon wasn't very kind. But it helped give me a thicker skin in dealing with people. I swiftly realised that shows like Pop Idol are no shortcut to the top. That comes from hard work. Pop Idol was an experience but little else."
I can imagine that Mr Nasty is kicking himself now that she’s the hottest star in town!
