The Last Shadow Puppets are the new band formed by Alex 'Artic Monkeys' Turner and Miles Kane of the Rascals and they already look set to be huge! The guys have been firm friends ever since Arctic Monkeys toured with Kane's previous group, The Little Flames.Alex and Miles shared a love of listening to the likes of Scott Walker, early Bowie and David Axelrod and through that they hatched a plan. The result is 'The Age Of The Understatement'- their debut single. The talent-loaded band also includes Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford on production duties and drumming while Owen Pallett from Final Fantasy takes charge of the strings.Their debut single was released on Monday and things are already looking promising for this week's charts. Not only that- David Bowie has also been praising the band's b-side cover of his The Heat Of The Morning. He described the new version as wonderfully energetic on his offical website.Thats a delight! How lovely. A day maker," he went on to say.
It looks like everything Alex Turner touches turns to gold at the moment but- great though they are- do the puppets have what it takes to step out of the Artic Monkey's shadow.
