Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill has credited the band's religious upbringing as the catalyst for making great music. The band of brothers; Caleb, Nathan and Jared, along with cousin Matthew, grew up under the strict guidance of their Pentecostal preacher father, who banned any form of non-faith music from their household. The group cite this lack of popular music as the inspiration for creating new tracks - because they have so many repressed melodies to work with.He says, "Our favourite thing to do is to create music because we were somewhat deprived of it while we were growing up, due to religious standards. Now, whenever we get in the studio someone will play one riff and before you know it, like, literally, within 15 minutes, we have all our parts."
