For the first couple of albums we were really young and all we did was lie around and get stoned

Kasabian have vowed to ban drugs from all their future studio sessions after discovering how fresh their sound is when they don't smoke pot.

The popular rock band, which released its self-titled debut in 2004, recently wrapped work on its fourth record, Velociraptor!, and frontman Tom Meighan admits there is a clear difference in the songs on the upcoming release compared to their previous discs, which were all recorded while high.

He told the News of the World newspaper, "For the first couple of albums we were really young and all we did was lie around and get stoned. That's why the records were so trippy and really psychedelic and electronic."

The star insists the band shunned drugs while creating their latest album - and have now vowed never to allow narcotics in the studio ever again.

Meighan adds, "We've grown up now though and we still have the freshness and the bite. We were in the studio and there were no narcotics and we never will have them in there."
