It was revealed at the Cannes Film Festival this week that Timberlake will not only write the film's score but will also take on the role of music supervisor and choose which other tracks from different artitsts will appear on the soundtrack.
The Devil and the Deepl Blue Sea will star Timberlake's fiancee, actress Jessica Biel as well as Chloe Moretz. Directed by Bill Purple, the film is set in New Orelans and is about a widower and a girl building a raft to sail over the Atlantic.
Last year, Justin Timberlake explained that his music career was not being ignored in favour of his acting projects. Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the former boy band star, solo musician and actor said: "I don't really put anything on the back burner. I go from project to project and if something comes up that's inspiring and feels like it makes sense and is authentic to me, then... I'm just trying to continue to be inspired.
