"I couldn't believe the stress over the colour of my hair. And so I said, 'OK, I'll dye it.' And I did - pink."I said, 'You know what, you are being shallow, and if you keep going on about it, my hair will go from pink to green to blue to yellow and then I will shave it off, because I don't care about my hair.' "I don't like being told what to do."Meanwhile the teen singer is baffled by the negative criticism Tom Cruise has received in recent years, declaring his "enthusiasm" has been misunderstood.Stone, 19, was invited to dine with the Mission: Impossible actor when he became enamoured with her debut album The Soul Sessions.

Despite rumours surrounding Cruise's behaviour, Stone insists he was completely normal and amiable.

She says, "He invited me, my mum and my manager to his house for Chinese takeout.

"We watched a movie. We met his lovely kids. He invited me over in the first place, I think, because he loves my music and I thought he was absolutely lovely.

"I don't know why people make out he's odd because he isn't. He's just very enthusiastic and very full of life."
